Fast Anna Favored for $300,000 Gallant Bob
On Saturday at Parx Racing, the track will host the 24th edition of the $300,000 Gallant Bob Stakes. The Grade 3 event will be run at six furlongs on the main track and has drawn a field of seven of the most promising three-year-old sprinters.
Set as the morning line favorite at odds of 8-5 is Fast Anna, the runner-up in the King’s Bishop (G1) at Saratoga. Trained by Kathy Ritvo, the lightly-raced homebred for Frank Calabrese will be making only his fourth start. After wearing blinkers in all three prior starts, two of which he won, he will get the blinkers removed for the Gallant Bob and has had a bullet workout since his last race. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be aboard for the first time and the pair will break from post six.
Favorite Tale has home track advantage
Second choice at odds of 5-2 is Pennsylvania-bred Favorite Tale for trainer Guadalupe Preciado. The three-year-old gelded son of Tale of the Cat is a perfect three for three at Parx Racing and has won four of his nine lifetime starts. He was last seen finishing second, beaten under a length, in the Jersey Shore (G3) as the favorite. John Bisono will remain aboard and they are scheduled to break from the inside post. He is going for his first graded stakes win.
Pure Sensation switching back to dirt
Also in the field is Pure Sensation for trainer Christophe Clement who will break from post five. Bred and owned by Patricia Generazio, the gray colt is a son of Zensational out of a stakes winning mare also bred and raced for Generazio. Joel Rosario has been named to ride for the first time and the colt was last seen finishing third in the Better Talk Now Stakes at Saratoga on the turf. He will get a cutback in distance and a surface switch as he goes for his third win.
