Free as a Bird Tops Field for $65,000 Unbridled Sidney Stakes
Free as a Bird tops the wide open field as the morning line favorite at odds of 2-1 for trainer Ian Wilkes. After winning six consecutive stakes races, her streak was snapped in her first start of the year when she finished fourth in the Giant’s Causeway Stakes at Keeneland in April. Chris Landeros will be aboard and they will break from post position six.
Shrinking Violet looms large after first graded stakes win
Second choice at 5-2 on the morning line is Shrinking Violet for trainer Wesley Ward. A five-year-old daughter of Congaree, the chestnut mare has won seven of her sixteen starts and is coming into this race off of the first graded stakes victory of her career. She won the Monrovia (G2) at Santa Anita last time out and will have Kent Desormeaux in the irons from post position eight.
