Full Field of Sophomore Fillies Set for $200,000 Florida Oaks
On Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs, the track will host the 32nd edition of the $200,000 Florida Oaks. The Grade 3 race, scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf, has drawn a field of fourteen three-year-old fillies.
Consumer Credit has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 3-1 for trainer Chad Brown. Purchased for $185,000 as a yearling, the dark bay daughter of More Than Ready has won three of her five career starts and comes into this race off of back-to-back stakes victories. She delivered as the favorite last time out in the Sweetest Chant (G3). Edgard Zayas has retained the mount and they are scheduled to break from post position seven.
Quality Rocks seeking a rematch with Consumer Credit
Second choice at odds of 7-2 on the morning line is Quality Rocks for trainer Bill Mott. A dark bay daughter of Rock Hard Ten, she has won two of her five career starts, both of which came on synthetics. She is trying to earn both her first victory on the turf and her first graded stakes win after a runner-up effort behind Consumer Credit last time out. Jose Lezcano will be back aboard and they will break from post position three.
Blinkers on for Get Down Kitten
Also in the field at morning line odds of 12-1 is longshot Get Down Kitten, a homebred son of Kitten’s Joy owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey. Trained by Michael Maker, the bay filly will be equipped with blinkers for the first time after finishing fourth in her sophomore debut against optional claiming competition. She broke her maiden in her first career start as a juvenile. Joel Rosario will be aboard from post positon eleven.
