Full Field Set for $100,000 Oak Tree Juvenile Turf
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will conclude their season on Wednesday with a stakes laden card including the 3rd running of the Oak Tree Juvenile Turf. With a purse of $100,000, the one mile turf contest has drawn a full field of twelve with one on the also-eligible list.
The morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 is Dallas Skyline, a juvenile son of Scat Daddy trained by Cody Autrey. A $160,000 purchase as a yearling, the bay colt delivered in his career debut at Del Mar on the turf with a decisive victory as the favorite over a field of nine rivals. He is proven both at the distance and over the surface and will again have Kent Desormeaux in the irons. The pair will break from post position three.
Sky Preacher going for two in a row on turf
Second choice at odds of 3-1 on the morning line is Sky Preacher for trainer Doug O’Neill. The chestnut colt broke his maiden last time out in his third career start and was able to show significant improvement switching to the turf after competing on dirt in his two prior attempts. He romped by 7 ½ lengths as the heavy favorite under Tyler Baze. A son of Sky Mesa, he will break from post position nine and will again have Baze aboard.
Mark Casse will saddle debut runner Conquest Bespoke
Also in the field is Conquest Bespoke who will be making his career debut against stakes company at odds of 8-1. Trained by Mark Casse, the dark bay son of Speightstown will have Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith aboard. A $200,000 purchase as a yearling, he is the first foal to race from the unraced Medaglia d’Oro mare Haute Couture, a half-sister to several stakes winners. He will break from post seven, directly inside of the other Casse-trainee, Pioneerof the West.
