
Full Field Set for $75,000 First Responder Stakes at Parx
On Saturday at Parx Racing, the featured race of the day is the $75,000 First Responder Stakes. Scheduled to be run at about a mile and a sixteenth on the turf, the race has drawn a field of ten colts and geldings with two additional competitors on the also-eligible list.
Fredericksburg has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer Michael Matz. The four-year-old son of Speightstown, bred and owned by Ramona Bass, is winless from five starts this year and was last seen finishing second in the Real Courage Stakes. He has won three of his seventeen starts and is going for the first stakes win of his career. Alex Cintron will be aboard and they will break from post eight.
Xmas Sky trying for two wins in a row
Xmas Sky, a homebred son of Sky Classic for owner James Hibbert, is second choice on the morning line at odds of 4-1. Trained by Robin Graham, the five-year-old gelding was last seen going gate to wire to earn the fifth win of his career against optional claiming competition at Laurel. Horacio Karamanos, aboard for his win last time out, has retained the mount and they will break from post position ten.
Well-bred Dramedy making stakes debut
Also in the field at odds of 12-1 on the morning line is longshot Dramedy who will break from the rail under Gabriel Saez. A five-year-old son of Distorted Humor trained by Mario Pino, the bay returned this year off of an extended layoff and has won one of his five outings. He was last seen finishing sixth against optional claiming competition and earned the second win of his career two starts back by a head at Delaware Park.
