Loaded Field of Thirteen Set for $250,000 Raven Run Stakes
On Saturday at Keeneland, the featured race is the $250,000 Raven Run Stakes. The Grade 2 event will be run at seven-furlongs on the newly-installed conventional dirt main track and has drawn a field of thirteen three-year-old fillies.
Miss Behaviour has been installed as the 7-2 morning line favorite for trainer Phil Schoenthal. The three-year-old daughter of Jump Start has been on the board in ten of her eleven lifetime starts and has five wins to her credit. Last time out, she romped as the heavy favorite in the Charlestown Oaks (G3) and has won two of her six outings this year. Sheldon Russell has regained the mount and they will break from post eleven.
Thank You Marylou going for two in a row
Second choice on the morning line at odds of 5-1 is Thank You Marylou, a chestnut daughter of Birdstone trained by Mike Maker. After struggling against graded stakes competition all summer, she earned the first graded stakes win of her career last time out in the Dogwood (G3) at Churchill Downs. She has had consecutive bullet workouts since that race and will have Alan Garcia aboard for the first time from post two.
Well-bred La Madrina making stakes debut
La Madrina, a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Verrazano, will be making her stakes debut at morning line odds of 8-1. Trained by Claude McGaughey, the sophomore daughter of Tapit was bred by owner Emory Hamilton and has won three of her four starts. She has won her last two races in New York as the favorite and will have regular rider Javier Castellano, aboard for all three wins, in the irons from post ten.
