Undefeated Amiz Gizmo Going for Third Win in $125,000 Frost King Stakes
On Wednesday at Woodbine, the featured race is the $125,000 Frost King Stakes. Restricted to Ontario-bred juveniles, the seven-furlong contest has drawn a field of five colts and geldings.
Amiz Gizmo has been tabbed as the heavy favorite in the diminutive field at odds of 3-5 for trainer Josie Carroll. A chestnut son of Giant Gizmo, he has won consecutive stakes races already and is undefeated from two starts. Last time out, he delivered over seven rivals as the heavy favorite in the Bull Page Stakes. Luis Contreras will remain aboard and they are scheduled to break from post position four.
Ultraflame trying for first stakes victory
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Ultraflame for trainer John Ross. A bay son of Old Forester, he has been on the board in three of his four starts and is one of the more experienced contenders in the field. He broke his maiden in his second career start and, following a third place finish behind Amiz Gizmo in a minor stakes race, was second last time out in an allowance race. Patrick Husbands will be aboard from the inside post.
Consistent Ruth Less Blue a top contender
Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Ruth Less Blue for trainer Scott Fairlie. A dark bay son of Giant Gizmo, he has won two of his four starts. After a runner-up debut against stakes company, he broke his maiden and wheeled back to win the Vandal Stakes. He was third last time out in the Bull Page Stakes. Michelle Rainford will be in the irons and they will break from post position three.
